Mocha Java Coffee Blend contains  a sweet citrus flavour, with a mild pleasant acidity. Roasted as a city roast, it is nice and sweet with a lingering citrus taste stemming from the Ethiopian beans while the Indonesia provides balance and strength to the blend, silencing the acidity slightly.

Being the worlds first ever coffee blend, this one is for the books. Historically, it was named Moka Java, after the origins Moka (in Yemen) and Java (In Indonesia). Nowadays the Yemenese coffee industry isn’t as strong as it once was and so many roasters have taken to using geographically similar alternatives, like Ethiopia.

History:

A coffee blend of Arabian (Yemen) Mocha coffee and Indonesian Java Arabica coffee. Mocha Java is said to be the world’s oldest coffee blend, combining two of the best premium coffee beans with complementary tasting characteristics.The lively intensity and pleasant wildness of the Yemen Mocha provides a wonderful complement to the clean and bright smoothness of the Java coffee, which is one of the most popular Indonesian coffees.In the olden days, coffee beans from Yemen—where coffee has grown since the 15th century (see World’s Best History of Coffee)—were shipped in the wooden hulls of sailing ships of sailors at the great Yemen port of Mocha [Mokha]. This port was one of the world’s busiest locations at the time because it was the primary sea port for the sea route to Mecca.

Ethiopian Coffee:

Coffee production in Ethiopia is a longstanding tradition which dates back dozens of centuries. Ethiopia is where Coffea arabica, the coffee plant, originates. The plant is now grown in various parts of the world; Ethiopia itself accounts for around 3% of the global coffee market.

Indonesian Coffee:

Grown in volcanic ash, amongst chilis and spices, Indonesian coffees are prized for their unique, unmistakable flavors, velvety mouthfeel, and earthy tones. Coffee was first brought to the Indonesian island of Java in the late 1600s by Dutch settlers who smuggled seeds over from Yemen.

Together after roasted separately it creates a wonderful blend that is called Mocha Java Coffee Blend.
